As one of the dentists in the Olympic Village during the 1984 summer games in Los Angeles, Dr. Ray Padilla has long been a proponent of custom athletic mouthguards and has worked hard to raise both athletes' and dentists' awareness of the vital role mouthguards play in our oral health. Dr. Padilla shares his experiences and insights on mouthguards and sports dentistry. The only mouthguards that Dr. Padilla believes provide adequate protection to athletes are custom-made mouthguards of the pressure laminated type such as the Maxxgard.
